Betsy and JP 8/15/2009

Betsy and JP were married on the Sunset Deck right at sunset. The weather cleared up right before the ceremony and the scenery was breathtaking. JP and the groomsmen arrived by boat while Betsy and the bridesmaids dressed and put on finishing touches in the bridal suite. Betsy and JP added a thoughful touch by providing monogrammed water bottles to their guests during the ceremony as well as turning their programs into a fan. The ceremony and reception were decorated with touches of the beach and surrounding waters. All of the colors were beautiful shades of cream, ivory, and caramel. The guests and couple danced all night to music provided by Positive Vibes DJ. Seashore Florist provided the beautiful bridesmaids' bouquets, groomsmens' boutonnieres, and the corsages for special loved ones. At the end of the event Betsy and JP had an extra special treat for their guests: a candy bar! The bride and groom departed their fun-filled evening by boat. Stephanie and Ryan 8/2/2009

Stephanie and Ryan were married on the Sunset Deck overlooking the Lynnhaven Inlet on a warm August evening. Following the ceremony the group remained on the Sunset Deck to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Everyone moved inside the Lesner Hall for dinner and dancing to music provided by Dynamite DJs. The guests enjoyed a 7-tier(!) wedding cake from Mrs. B's which was decorated with a beach theme. A big thanks to Christine with Del Haven Studio for these wonderful pictures! Janet and Patrick 7/26/2009

What a sweet couple! Janet and Patrick incorporated beach elements into their reception. They had tables named after shells and their cake from Incredible Edibles was decorated with white chocolate seashells. The couple added a special touch my having an ice cream cake along with the wedding cake. The guests enjoyed music by Chris with DJ on the Side. Carly and Fritz were married on one of the most gorgeous days in April this past year. The yellow color of the sunshine made its way into the reception with the beautiful gold table linen. Isha Foss with Isha Foss Events provided the linen as well as exquisite centerpieces for the tables. The guests enjoyed a delicious cake by Gourmet Bake Shoppe. Andrea and Drew 7/19/2009

This was a second celebration for Andrea and Drew. The couple had a destination wedding in Costa Rica and wanted their event at the Lesner Inn to be a joining together of the two families. Before the beginning of the ceremony a slideshow/video was played displaying pictures of Andrea and Drew's wedding in Costa Rica, as well as commentary from the couple about their first date up until now. Following the ceremony the group enjoyed a delicious dinner and some drinks. They danced the evening away to music provided by Bobby from Hey DJ. We wish Andrea and Drew years of happiness to come!

Amanda and Sean 8/1/2009

Amanda and Sean celebrated their reception at the Lesner Inn on a beautiful August evening. The two had their ceremony at St. Johns Catholic Church earlier that afternoon. This couple is so sweet! The main color of their wedding, a sage green, was found in booklets about the couple by each centerpiece, the bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmens vests and ties. Erin and Matt 8/8/2009

Erin and Matt were married exactly one year later to the day when they became engaged. This ceremony and reception was absolutely breathtaking. The couple chose simple colors of white and blue that were accented with flowers by Jodi Staples at Flowers by Jodi. Erin and Matt opted to do cupcakes instead of the traditional wedding cake. Cake Cravings provided 3 different flavors of delicious cupcakes displayed on a multi-tiered stand. Their ceremony music was provided by a guitarist and following the reception, guests were able to visit the candy bar to make a to-go bag of sweets! Maggie and Joe didn't let a cloudy sky ruin their day! This group was so upbeat and fun! The couple had their ceremony and reception at the Lesner Inn. The bridesmaids carried lovely bouquet's from Daevids of Norfolk that matched the gorgeous table centerpieces. Following the ceremony the bridal party ran across the street to take some pictures on the beach! They shortly came back to enjoy a delicious dinner followed by dancing. Rachel and Robert had a beautiful ceremony and reception. The bride carried a lovely bouquet of purple and yellow calla lillies that complemented their reception colors. Following the ceremony the group left the Sunset Deck and headed into the Lesner Hall for the reception. Sarah and Steuart were SUCH a pleasure! They are the sweetest couple and we hope they had an amazing time at their ceremony and reception. They personalized their reception by adding pictures of themselves in different cities for their centerpieces. The bride created some absolutely beautiful centerpieces from wooden and glass boxes filled with sand, shells, and candles. The couple was even able to sneak across the street to take a few pictures on the beach. Everyone danced the night away until Sarah and Steuart sailed off on a boat. Thanks Adam Taubman! Ashlynn and Josh's reception was HOT! The group began their evening with a beautiful ceremony on the Sunset Deck. Following the ceremony, they moved into the Lesner Hall for dinner and dancing where things heated up! Ashlynn and Josh provided their guests with hot sauce as a favor. The two created their own special receipe that is sure to light anyone's fire. When it was time for the evening to come to a close, the guests turned up the heat again, this time with sparklers, as Ashlynn and Josh made their formal exit. Blackwood/Kubic Rehearsal Dinner 7/10/2009

This rehearsal dinner was so fun! Blue was the event color and it was accented beautifully with the centerpieces created by the groom's mother, Ann. This group was very laid back and really enjoyed their rehearsal dinner. We hope the ceremony and reception was just as pleasureable! The Firestone Rehearsal Dinner was a beautiful event! The group themselves handled all of the flower arrangements and it turned out absolutely breathtaking. The tire shaped cake added that little something special! Everyone had a wonderful time!

Logan and Jon were married on the Sunset Deck Saturday, April 4, 2009. What a gorgeous day! It seemed like they got their own tropical paradise right here in Virginia Beach. Shelbi's parents suprised the couple with boat get away. (Thank you Adam) All the guests waved good-bye from the upstairs deck, rang bells and wished them luck. Congratulations Shelbi and Jason!

Lesner Inn Open House

As our wedding season comes to a close, I would like to add a few posts to highlight some wonderful weddings that we had this fall. Rosana and Jason held their reception here in the Lesner Hall. With the help of Isha, at Isha Foss Events, they put together a truly wonderful soiree. Every detail was executed beautifully and it made for a great time for all. Thanks to Eleise Theuer for your exquisite pictures that captured the event so well. Roger Cruz from Astro DJ provided all night entertainment that kept everyone on their feet and on the dance floor. The beautiful flowers were provided by Ralph at Posh Petals and the delicious cupcakes came from Myra at Creative Cakes. The night was unforgettable and the little extra touches like the ice sculpture from Ice Art and the adorable cuzzies favors made it the perfect evening for all.

August 15-17, 2008

It was another fun and eventful weekend at Lesner Inn. Friday evening brought us Erin and Andrew's ceremony and reception. It also brought some serious rain right before the ceremony began. Fortunetly, it cleared up at the last moment and we were able to have the ceremony on the Sunset Deck as planned. Harold McGee officiated the ceremony and the reception was held in Lesner Hall. Thank you to Chris from DJ on the side. You always know how to keep things rocking. Erin looked beautiful and even had a dress change during the reception. Sugar Plum baker provided the lovely cake.

Saturday morning we were pleased to host Jennifer and Eric's waterside reception. It was a beautiful combination of deck-side casual, with sofisticated elegance. The cake was absolutely beautiful with rings of shells at each level. It was truly a pleasure working with this wonderful couple.









That evening two very special groups hosted events. In the Lesner Hall Summer and David held their ceremony and reception. They really went all out adding special touches for their guests. From the personalized wine to the decorative water bottles, they thought of everything. Thanks to Wedding Central for the wonderful lighting and chair sashes, it really brightened up the room. Bloom did an exquisite job with the floral arrangements.












Meanwhile, Downstairs on the Waterside Deck, Ann and Bart, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Family and freinds joined them as they ate, laughed and shared memories of their time together. Thank you Chef DeLong for the golden anniversary cake.

August 8-10, 2008

It was a truly busy weekend at Lesner Inn. The building was filled with lots of activity. We began the weekend with a beautiful ceremony for Minh and Glenn. The weather cooperated and the ceremony was elegant. Guests enjoyed the musical accompaniment of a string quartet while enjoying a delicious meal of Salmon and Crab Cakes.

That evening we had two special events. Julia and Patrick celebrated their wedding with an evening reception. Jody Staples provided the vibrant flowers that added a truly beautiful touch. Meanwhile in our Waterside Deck another group enjoyed a surprise retirement party while enjoying the passing boats and water activity.

Saturday was another gorgeous day for a wedding reception. Ashley and Rick's reception was fun and lively with bright greens, and oranges. They danced the day away and the tic tac favors were a great addition to the colorful them.

The weekend concluded on Sunday with two great evening weddings. Both groups had their ceremonies here and followed with the receptions. It is truly amazing that we get to take part in such special occasions!

Jodi and Jason

Jodi and Jason said "I do" on the Sunset Deck adjacent to Lesner Hall on a warm August evening. It was a touching ceremony to see. Jodi and Jason are lucky to have such a close-knit and loving family. Dee Akright did an amazing job capturing the spirit of their day with her camera, and Astro DJs kept the party going into the evening hours.

Bill and Jo-Ann

There is something truly special about being able to share in the celebration of a 50th anniversay. Bill and Jo-ann shared their special day with friends and family, some of whom had shared in their wedding day. Their guests came from up and down the east coast and as far west as Wyomming. They shared food, fun, stories, and fellowship.

Linette and Chris

Linette and Chris held there wedding reception in Lesner Hall on Saturday, August 2, 2008. Daevid did a wonderful job creating the decor. Mrs. B's was responsible for the beautiful 3 tiered cheesecake wedding cake. Thanks to DJ Rodney Charles for Bringing the party to life.

Erin and Andrew

Erin and Andrew were married on the Sunset Deck on Friday August 1st at 6:00 PM. The weather was gorgous and the special touches that the group added made the deck even more beautiful. In keeping with Andrew's romantic proposal on a hot air ballon, all the decor had bold red, blue, and yellow colors. The centerpeices and favors included items made by the bride and groom themselves.

These hot air ballon replicas really made the theme come to life.

The hot air Balloon cupcakes were also hand peiced together and really added a beautiful touch.

Bryant and Stratton

We kicked off this weekend with a Friday afternoon gathering of the Bryant and Stratton Faculty members. They have become a regular group here at Lesner Inn and we always enjoy their events.

Kara and Michael

Kara and Michael's ceremony and reception on Sunday evening were truly breathtaking. The contrasts of the blues and yellows throughout, made for a spectacular ambiance. Kara and her bridesmaids looked amazing and a great time was had by all. Entertainment was provided by Fine Swiss Cheese. Thanks Aunt Barbara for all of your hard work. Everything was truly great.

Cristin and Dan

It is my pleasure to post Lesner Inn's very first wedding blog. It is very fitting that Cristin and Dan would be our first. This is a truly wonderful couple and we were so happy to be able to share in their special day. It was a gorgeous ceremony over looking the Lynnhaven River followed by festive reception. The natural colors of the waterfront setting were accented with soft hints of pink roses and candlelight. Congratulations Cristin and Dan and may you have many more happy occasions to come.
